Heat Treatment Recommendation

For best performance from 1080 & 15N20 Damascus:

  • Normalize: 2–3 cycles of heating and air cooling for grain refinement
  • Austenitize: Heat to ~800°C (1475°F)
  • Quench: Warm oil quench (~60°C / 140°F)
  • Temper: 200–205°C (390–400°F), 2–3 cycles for 1 hour each

This process typically achieves 58–60 HRC with strong toughness and edge retention.
